windy

These darn winds are wreaking havoc with my eyes, nose, and throat. Also, Nathan is thoroughly afraid of the winds. He refuses to go outside "Nathan scared windy!" Nathan also misses the cruise. If he sees a tall, sleek office building with lots of reflective glass and balconies he'll shout "Our cruise ship?" He definitely wants to go back on the cruise, and heck, who can blame him?

Busy week

Although not as bad as it could have been, this week back at work after vacation was been busy. Lots of meetings, a presentation, my yearly evaluation, and our clinic was audited by the State today. And it is only Wednesday...

Cruise to Mexico

IMG_2440 IMG_2472 IMG_2354

I got back today from out 7 day NCL cruise to Mexico - Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerto Villarta. Overall I had a good time. Somethings could have gone better - Nathan didn't like the kids program, our cabin steward seemed to only come round to clean when Nathan was sleeping, my mom got ill, and sharing a room with Nathan means even worse quality sleep for than usual for all of us. But the food on the ship was good and all you can eat, we benefited enormously of the shared babysitting duties of my parents and my brother, snorkeling was great, and Nathan was happy most of the time. You can see more cruise photos at our flicker page.

Nathan likes bowling

To encourage Nathan's love affair with bowling, his grandparents got him his own toy bowling set. Nathan really enjoys it. He can stand up the pins on his own, but can't aim very well so always hold the bowling ball as he knocks them over.

Planning for the cruise

Unlike previous cruises where I got to sleep in late, enjoy all the ship amenities, explore the stops, my options will be limited by a toddler. For example, on our last trip to Yosemite, we had to plan our activities and hikes around Nathan's afternoon nap and early bed time. I'm trying to be positive and hopeful, but plan for anything. It is hard to guess how Nathan will do, but we have the advantage this time of traveling with my parents, my brother and his girlfriend - all of whom Nathan adores. I doubt I'll get a chance to sleep in late, but I think there will be opportunity for me to do my own thing.
