Although Saturday was nice (I got another child free morning thanks to Gary's parents), Sunday was rough. We drove up to Santa Barbara to visit Granpa George who had a stroke only a few days after Eileen died. Thankfully he doesn't seem to be very affected, well not too much more affected than he was before the stroke. He is still terribly lonely though.
Unfortunately Nathan was out of sorts during the visit, didn't sleep well last night and is sick with a cold and fever today. This means that I didn't sleep well last night and I am sick with ths same crud too.
This week has been going well. I updated my mom's book website about her Rashi's Daughters series. She has three books done now and one more coming soon. With Nathan learning to sleep past 6am, I've been getting more sleep which is really nice. It is amazing what a difference an extra 45 minutes in the morning will make.
Also, I've been gearing up to start playing a new 4th edition Dungeons and Dragons game. I've figured out my character - a female halfling rogue who is addicted to burglary.
We had a very nice weekend. Nathan did alot of exploring around the block and we met two new sets of neighbors. Lately, he likes to hang out in other people's front yards. Unfortunatly, Nathan did aquire a new "boo-boo" crashing head first into our front steps.
We also had a fun time at Katie's birthday party Sunday. The water table was a big hit and got the toddlers soaked and eventually topless.
It is a little late for father's day, but I saw this add posted on a parenting message board and just had to share. It it super cute. To all the dads out there - Happy Belated Father's Day!

The last few days I've been feeling down. I had quite a bit of company over the weekend. My brother and Tamara came up to visit on the weekend. My friend Cathy came over for a visit and we talked some about death and planning for retirement, amongst other things. Gary's parents also came up Saturday for dinner.
I took Monday off from work, and was quite unproductive at home and just lazed about.
Tuesday I drove up to Santa Barbara and spent the day with grandpa George. He is taking Eileen's death very hard, as to be expected. I'll probaby go up to visit again on the weekend.
On a more positive note, Nathan now knows the names for each of our cats - "Moo" and "Lo-ee."
I found out this morning Eileen, my Grandpa George's wife of over 15 years, has died. We don't know all the details, but it is quite a shock. She was healthy and the main caregiver for my grandpa. It hasn't really sunk in yet, but I a mostly concerned about George. Who knows how this will affect him. She was an intelligent, caring, polite, and wonderful lady.

This morning Nathan and I slept past 7am. I don't even remember the last time that happened. Hurray for sleep!
The weekend went well. I quite enjoyed Saturday morning. Nathan went to OC to visit his grandparents and I got to go back to sleep. I also got some handywork done. I proud of myself for managing to use a power drill to reinstall some curtain rods in Nathan's room. I also installed a whole bunch of new safety locks on kitchen appliances. Nathan was getting into the fridge and oven a little too easily. As much as I love my child and husband, I also love having the house to myself every now and then.

Nathan's language is really taking off. It seems like he learns a new word everyday. He enjoys pushing me over and rolling me across the floor. He also loves to imitate. His favorite is to fake yawn after I yawn.
We had a nice weekend at hime, nothing too exciting. Nathan loves exploring and checking out our neighbor's house next door. He is getting much more agile and it is getting harder to get any decent photos of him. Most of the pictures we take he is a blur or grabbing the camera.
