The Story of Edgar Sawtelle

David Wroblewski's first novel, The Story of Edgar Sawtelle, was recommended to me by some book club budies. It centers on the life of mute boy, growing up as an only child. The family apparently makes a living breeding and training dogs. The plot is slow and depressing. You spend half the book reading about dog training, but hardly a word about the main character's time at school. I stopped reading it about a third of the way through. I give it a 1 out of 10.
