I read Song Yet Sung, by James McBride, for bookclub. It is the jumbled story of slaves, runaway slaves, slave owners, and runaway slave hunters. Basically it is window into their lives and the challenges and injustices they indured. I thought there were too many characters and all the actions in the plot were hard to follow. And of course it is depressing. I give it a 4 out of 10

I just finished "Austenland" and I have decided that Shannon Hale is my new favorite author. I'm going to read all her books; I'm even going to be brave and read her graphic novel, Rapunzel's Revenge. Austenland is the story of 30 something single woman obsessed with Mr. Darcy of Pride and Prejudice. She is bequeathed a fantasy vacation in England where the guests dress up in period clothes and role play with actors. Of course romance ensues and the twist at the end is fabulous. I rate it a 10 out of 10.
