Tears of the Giraffe

Second in the Number One Ladies Detective Agency series is Tears of the Giraffe. The first novel about a Botswana woman, of "traditional" build, who starts a private detective business was fresh, interesting, and educational. Then novelty of the character and setting have worn off by the second installment, but overall it was still a nice read. The mysteries weren't as unique but there was good tension. I rate it a 5 out of 10.

Burglar on the Prowl

In Burglar on the Prowl, Bernie Rhodenbarr is accused of a crime didn't commit. His best friend is lesbian dog groomer Carolyn Kaiser. He enjoys an occasional good meal, a nice bottle of wine, some good conversation with friends. Oh, and he likes to steal.
